There hasn't been a real thread about fighting games since the old Brofist was ended, so here's a general.

Things you may want to discuss...

>Arcade sticks and hardware
>Online matchups (XBL, PSN, GGPO, etc)
>Upcoming releases
>The Classics
>Tourneyfagging
>Underappreciated, doujin or obscure fighters
>Characters and perhaps even art dumping

These are just a couple of discussion starters, not rules. Just feel free to talk fightan'.

This motherfucker was on display in the console gaming room at AX this month. A few of us were having a good time laughing at this shit and trying to figure out exactly what was happening. There is a video or two from Zero Shift on the kona board in the AX thread.

It looks ridiculous and is based on a manga full of totally absurd characters. But once you learn how to play it, you find that it has potential for some truly great and balanced fighting.

You're right, it does look ridiculous. I have a feeling that it would be a blast with a bunch of friends in the room passing the controller around.

This was also on display, or maybe it was a sequel to this game. I found it listed as "Gleam of Force" online. The animation is super smooth because it is a Flash game, the gameplay seems to be very solid, and I would actually pay for this (or an updated, superior sequel).

A Flash game, you say? Intruiging. Would it be possible to get a link to the game?

In other news, there seems to be a rumour of two new crossover fighting games featuring Capcom and Namco. One is apparently to be developed by Capcom and run on the SF4 engine, while the other is to be developed by Namco and run on the Tekken 6 engine. Could this be the durprise Yoshinori Ono is planning to reveal at Comic-Con?

How would you feel about this? To be honest, I'm pretty iffy on the idea of the Namco developed one.

I just ordered my first stick, its a piece of shit 20 dollar one. I'll be using it for SSF4, VF5, and GGXXR#. Maybe something else if I can think of something. I never used a stick before except a few times at the arcade but I still feel weird using it.

Ah it's not out yet, my bad, it was just announced, but some awesome news about it.

> A PC port of the game is been announced in Japan and stated to be released on August 26, 2010.[13] A European release of the game is scheduled for a August 13, 2010 release.[

> The PC port will be a direct conversion of the Xbox 360 version, and will contain cross-platform compatibility via the Games for Windows - Live service.

You're a wee bit late on MUGEN, but I guess it was going to be mentioned somewhere down the line. While it's not balanced by any means, it's fun to customize and dick around in. I used to put it on a flash drive and just play it during my Grade 10 Business class. Shit was so cash.

>>434
Oh, look, Swoftu complaining about something. AGAIN. Oh well...

Look, no one said you had to play the game. If you don't like it, that's cool. You don't, also, have to complain about shit all the goddamned time. To be honest, it's quite irritating.

As for your question, I suppose the main reason you would want to give it a try is because you get a lot of content for forty bucks. Aside from the usual (arcade mode, online with excellent netcode, training, score attack), there's a tutorial mode that goes from the very basics of fighting games to more advanced techniques unique to the game, as well as strategies for each character. Challenges are pretty much like the trials of SF4. Legion Mode is basically taking party members and attacking other party members to take over a map. Story mode is quite lengthy as well. As a whole, there's a hell of a lot of game to play, and for a cheaper price than most games, it's certainly worth trying if you haven't played BB before.

There are a couple of news bits for fighting games at Gamescon today, but unfortunately, I don't have access to a computer for now. I'm just gong to have to list them below real simple-like (since iPhone/iTouches won't let you upload photos, what a load).

1. Dormammu and Viewtiful Joe are confirmed for MvC3.

2. Kitana and Cyrax are confirmed for Mortal Kombat (9?), as well as some stage throwbacks to Ultimate MK3.

That's about it, other than Harada-san's failed attempt at pulling a prank on Ono-san that's posted on Twitter.
